KeyboardTest is an easy to use Windows based application that allows users to quickly check that all the keys on their keyboard are functioning correctly and look at the internal scan codes being generated by the keyboard. It also allows the testing of Mouse buttons. You should first select the keyboard type that most closely matches the layout of your keyboard. The name of each keyboard corresponds to the number of keys that each keyboard has. In the early days of PC’s there was an ‘XT’ and ‘AT’ format keyboard. The older XT style of keyboard has now almost totally disappeared, with most PC’s only supporting the AT style. PC/AT Keyboards have at least 101 keys but more recent Internet / Windows keyboards may have many more. After a keyboard type has been selected you can test each key and see each key pressed be highlighted on the image of the Keyboard in the window. Each time a key is pressed a variety of state information is updated in the window.
